Hi everyone! I’m excited to start a new series on JuiceNext. For the next 3 Fridays, I’ll share special juice recipes that might cure a hangover. Today, I’m starting with my ‘Detox Boost’ juice.

Are you planning to go out this weekend? If so, I suggest buying the ingredients for this juice before you go. That way, if you wake up feeling rough, you’ll have everything you need to make this helpful drink.

I always like to remind you that drinking less alcohol is the best way to avoid a hangover. But if you need a little help, I think my Detox Boost juice might do the trick!

3 bottels of cold pressed juice that migh help cure a hangover.

Ingredients

  • 100g beet (1 medium beet)
  • 200g carrots (about 2 medium carrots)
  • 150g green apple (1 medium apple)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 10g fresh turmeric root (about a 2.5cm piece) – or turmeric powder but then only 1 teaspoon (3-4g).
  • Pinch of black pepper

Procedure

  • Wash all ingredients thoroughly.
  • Cut beet, carrots, apple and lemon into pieces that fit your juicer.
  • Juice beet, carrots, apple and lemon
  • If you were able to find turmeric root, juice it as well
  • If not, add 1 teaspoon (or less) of turmeric powder and a small pinch of black pepper. The pepper helps your body use the turmeric better.
  • I stir everything really well. The turmeric powder might not dissolve completely, and that’s okay.
  • If you want, you can strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer to make it smoother, but I usually don’t bother
  • Pour it into a glass, and it’s ready to drink!

I like to drink this juice right away, but if you need to, you can keep it in the fridge for a few hours. Just give it a good stir before drinking.

Remember, this juice isn’t a magic cure for hangovers, but it might help you feel a bit better. Always drink responsibly!

Why these ingredients?

Beets

I love beets for this juice because they’re great for your liver. When you drink alcohol, your liver works overtime. Beets have stuff in them that helps your liver do its job better.

Carrots

Carrots are rich in antioxidants, particularly beta-carotene, which can help combat oxidative stress and inflammation. This makes them a good choice for recovery after alcohol consumption.

Green Apples

Apples, including green varieties, are high in dietary fiber, which promotes digestive health. They also provide a refreshing taste to juices, enhancing flavor while contributing to gut health.

Lemon

Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin C, which is known to support the immune system and aid in recovery from stressors like alcohol consumption. Their acidity also adds a zesty flavor to beverages.

Turmeric

Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that can help reduce inflammation in the body, particularly beneficial after alcohol consumption.

Black Pepper

Black pepper contains piperine, which enhances the absorption of curcumin from turmeric, ensuring that the body can utilize the anti-inflammatory benefits effectively.

Taste

I have to say, I was really impressed with this juice! I tried to find something to criticize, but honestly, it was a great mix of flavors. The beetroot and lemon worked so well together, and the carrot and apple added just the right amount of sweetness.

One small thing – I used turmeric powder instead of fresh root, and it didn’t mix in perfectly. I had to keep stirring because the powder kept settling at the bottom of my glass. I bet using fresh turmeric root would solve this problem, but for some reason, it’s hard to find where I live.

I’ve heard so many good things about turmeric root, so I’m a bit bummed it’s not more common here. Still, even with the powder, this juice was a winner in my book!

Since I have been using it for quite some time now, you can read my honest review and see if this is the best slow juicer for you.
